Hey, everybody has got a Christmas pet peeve.

Mine?
Well, there is a Christmas song popularized by Clay Aiken.

Mary Did You Know
Mary, did you know
That your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?

That your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know

This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you

Every time I hear that song I want to rip my ears off of my head!

Did Mary Know?
Of course she knew.
It's called THE ANNUNCIATION. The Angel Gabriel was sent by God to Mary:

LUKE 1:26
Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob forever. And of his kingdom there shall be no end."

So, it's in the Bible.
And the annunciation has been depicted in Christian art for two thousand years.
Botticelli, Van Eyck, Fra angelico, El Greco, Rubens, Giotto,,,,,,,,
It is one of the most iconic themes in art history.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

But, by golly, you have to have standards. Let your guard down for one second and you end up with singing chipmunks, a bullied reindeer with a headlight for a nose, and mothers kissing Santa,,,, total breakdown of the social order,,,, anarchy!
