Anglers in the southcentral Pa. can start prepping their tackle boxes earlier than fishers in other parts of the state. For most Pennsylvanians, trout season starts the first Saturday after April 11. This year, that's April 16, according to the state Fish and Boat Commission website.

But anglers in the southcentral and southeastern parts of the state can start prepping their tackle boxes two weeks earlier.York, Adams, Lebanon and Franklin counties are among 18 in the state that have a regional opening day. Fishers in these areas can start casting on April 2.

  • Regional opening day: April 2 (includes York, Adams, Lebanon and Franklin counties)
  • Statewide opening day: April 16
