We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Is It Fathers' Day Already?

As noted, St. Joseph's Day always occurs during Lent, and the humility of the Virgin's chaste spouse is a fine example for all, especially during that holy season.

This "Litany of humility" is excellent any time of the year, but espeicially on St. Joseph's Day:

O Jesus, meek and humble of heart, hear us.
From the desire of being esteemed,
From the desire of being loved,
From the desire of being extolled,
From the desire of being honored,
deliver us, Jesus.
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred to others,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
deliver us, Jesus.
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being calumniated,
deliver us, Jesus.
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being suspected,
deliver us, Jesus.
Lord, in your mercy....hear our prayer.

That others may be loved more than u,
That others may be esteemed more than us,
That in the opinion of the world,
others may increase, and we may decrease,
That others may be chosen and us set aside,
That others may be praised and us unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to us in everything,
That others may become holier than us,
provided that we may become as holy as we should.
Jesus, grant us the grace to desire it.
Lord, in your mercy... .hear our prayer.

Hear us, God our Father,
in the name of the love that you bear for Jesus,
conceived of the Holy Spirit and child of the Virgin Mary,
and our brother,
forever and ever. AMEN.
