Religious Doctor Refused to Treat Lesbian Couple’s Baby After 'Praying On It'
Jami and Krista Contreras, a married Lesbian couple from Oak Park, Michigan, were told that their pediatrician, having "prayed on it," decided not to see their 6-day-old baby.
The incident, which occurred three years ago, was recounted by the couple to Good Morning America on April 17, as part of "Beyond I Do," a national campaign to increase protection for LGBTQ couples.
Krista recalled that after waiting for a while to see the pediatrician they had met with before, they inquired with the attending doctor, "Is our doctor coming in?"
Her response came as a blow.
"[The doctor] said -- No I'm going to be your doctor, your [previous] doctor prayed on it and decided she won't see you all today,” said Krista.
To their surprise, Jami and Krista discovered that Michigan offers no legal redress to discrimination of this kind. According to Beyond I Do, the problem of lack of protection for same-sex couples is prevalent in over 30 states.

"Religious Doctor"?
And just what religion would this be?
Couldn't be mine.
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
