Conflict of Interest. Lesson 2

China approved three Ivanka trademarks on same day she met with Xi: report

Three new Ivanka Trump brand trademarks were approved in China on the same day Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner sat next to Chinese President Xi Jinping and wife Peng Liyuan earlier this month at a Mar-a-Lago state dinner, The Associated Press reported early Tuesday.

Xi visited Mar-a-Lago, President Trump's luxury resort in Palm Beach, Fla., on April 6. Trump and Kushner attended the state dinner that evening, sitting next to the world leader. The AP found that three trademarks that confer monopoly rights to sell Ivanka brand jewelry, bags and spa services were approved in China on the same day as the dinner.

Ivanka Trump Marks LLC., founded in 2007, has reported record sales since her father's inauguration despite some retailers, including Nordstrom, TJ Maxx and Marshalls, pulling the line.

In February, the president of the brand said it was seeing some of its best sales in its history. From January to February, the e-commerce aggregator Lyst reported a 346-percent sales increase of Ivanka Trump sales.

Ivanka Trump has stepped away from her business, placing it in a family trust before she moved into her new White House role as an adviser to her father.

However, critics have still raised concerns that Ivanka and President Trump could use their White House positions as a platform for the Ivanka Trump brand and Trump Organization, or violate conflict of interest rules in other ways as federal employees. Similarly, many have questioned how close the two remain to their brands, despite placing them in trusts.

Gee, no kidding.  How long is it going to take (even Trump supporters) to get it through their dome that Trump views the presidency as an extension and way to promote the family business?

Funny, 8 or 10 months ago Trump supporters were expressing concern that the Clinton Foundation's relationship with foreigners posed a great danger that they would have undo influence on a President Hillary Clinton.
I guess it's no longer a concern.
Imagine that.

Re: Conflict of Interest. Lesson 2

Ivanka Trump has stepped down as Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions at the Trump Organization and resigned as the head of her clothing, shoes and jewelry company. She has also divested herself of all common stock in the Trump Organization.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”

"Ivanka and Kushner will not sell all of their assets, but will make “substantial divestments” from some of their holdings, the lawyers said."
