I would not plan any trips in the near future to the Inner Harbor! Baltimore is spiraling out of control! The criminals have been embolden and it seems they have no fear of the police?
I listen to WBAL(1090) this morning and the police officer’s morale is in the toilet.
Officers are doing what they are required to do but nothing more. They have no faith in the Mayor or the Police dept. leadership!

It's terrible.
Why do you suppose police have no faith in the mayor or dept leadership?

Much as I would like American society to be color blind per Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream speech"; it is not.
So the question must be asked: Of these shootings:
How many black perp/black victim?
How many white perp/black victim?
How many white perp/white victim?
Irrespective of the relative numbers, even if there was just one black victim: Where are the protestors chanting "BLACK LIVES MATTER"?

Once there is the same amount of caring and protests for these senseless murders then we will have the start of progress in solving many of the ills of Baltimore. I am NOT making light of the death of Freddie Gray. Indeed there are many things that need to change and be resolved in that regards as well.

The police carried out a routine transport of a petty criminal who was cuffed and shackled.
And the guy ended up with a broken neck and died.
Am I to believe that the mayor is to blame for demanding to have someone held accountable for this?

The police dept. is being used as the scapegoats for a multitude of serious problems that have been in place for years in Baltimore. The current case has to be investigated and corrective actions absolutely have to be taken. If it is found that there is criminal conduct then the appropriate punishment needs to be applied.
There is a false story being pushed that the biggest threat to black males are police officers. Go look at the stats. That narrative is 100% wrong. Police involved shooting with blacks are somewhere in the 130 (fatal) range per year. Black on Black shootings are in the thousands. (fatal) Who is the threat to who? Why no protest and upset by our leaders for all the years this has been happening? If #Blacklivesmatter# then start acting like it. Stop attacking an easy target. This seems to have started with the lie of “Hand up don’t shoot” People know that is a lie but continue to push it? Why?
The largest majority of police officers try each day to protect the public from a vast array
criminals. They are good and decent people doing a dangerous job who just want to go home safe and sound at the end of their shift. Everything they do is under the microscope now. Law breaking/corrupt officers need to be removed from the force. That is up to our elected officials and the police administration to see that is carried out. The police cannot solve and the ills of our society! They are the thin blue line between civilized society and anarchy.
Baltimore homicidesThere have been 108 homicides in 2015 to date.

I see no one has tried to tackle this perplexiing question of why in one instance there are demands for change but in the other basically silence.
Till BOTH issues are raised equally vocally and action is taken not much is going to change IMHO.

Well, to be frank I didn't see much in the way of demands for change from anyone before Freddie Gray was killed.
Some in the media seem to have "discovered" these problems strictly to use as a counter to people expressing concern about excessive use of force by police.

Again, so just WHY are there no demands to clean up the killings in their own neighborhoods from the gangs and drug dealers. Somehow the two issues seem to be united at the hip so to speak at least as I see it.

I dunno. WHY are people suddenly asking this question? It seems like an effort to deflect the spotlight from the issue of excessive force by the police more than genuine concern.
