After reflecting upon the funeral services honoring John McCain and Aretha Franklin, it struck me ................ Donald Trump really doesn't have any friends. I mean real friends.
When all is said and done, can the measure of a person's life actually be calculated by the number of friends they've made over the course of their life and the impact of those friendships?
If we look back and examine a person's life that way, Donald Trump turns out to be a sad figure. People using each other for personal gain or selfish reasons and calling them 'friends' is phony and transparent.

All of Donald Trump's relationships are transactional.

I always found this poem to nail the definition of a successful person:
That Man is a Success (Robert Louis Stevenson)
Who has lived well, laughed often and loved much;
Who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy or a perfect poem or a rescued soul;
Who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it;
Who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
