One District. National Meltdown

On June 26, 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won the Democratic primary in New York's 14th congressional district, defeating the incumbent, Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley, in what has been described as the biggest upset victory in the 2018 midterm-election season.

Since then this political rookie has been embraced as the messiah by some on the far left.
And, the alt-right media has gone berserk. From Fox to Breitbart, authoritarian media sources are making this 28 year old the bogeyman to incite fear.

How does a 28 year old, running for a House seat in a safe democratic district, get elevated to such exaggerated importance by both sides?
Is all politics national nowadays?

BTW, I congratulate her on her very impressive win, and hope that she gets elected in November.
But that's up to the People of her district.
Personally, I don't mind having a few socialists in Congress. It's a big country, and there are plenty of views. We seem to have plenty of room for libertarians, white nationalists, and evangelicals. Why not have a few socialists?

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

The tactic is --- you have to have someone to hate or fear !

And nothing provokes hate and fear among the right like the word Socialism.
Stop them before they give us,,,um,,, well,,, healthcare!

Many a ruggedly individualistic and self reliant Trumpkin will condemn aid programs as socialistic while on the way to the mailbox on government maintained roads to pick up his Social Security or farm subsidy check, and new Medicare card.

Nacy Pelosi will retire one day, so the right has to find a new villain.
