Education Secretary Betsy DeVos on Monday morning defended the Trump administration's plan to arm school staff, but said a gun in every classroom wouldn't be "appropriate."
During an appearance on NBC's "Today," co-anchor Savannah Guthrie asked DeVos what percentage of teachers should be armed. President Donald Trump has previously said 10 percent to 40 percent of school personnel could be qualified to handle a weapon.

Betsy DeVoid . . . Errrrr, I mean DeVos . . . Is truly a joke. Especially since Trump appointed her head of a federal commission to “look into”, “discuss”, and “investigate” gun violence and mass shootings in our schools and society. Just goes to show you the degree of seriousness Trump’s administration is giving to this horrific problem. You’ll notice he has already backtracked on his “plan” so as not to anger the NRA and other gun rights groups. His administration is more interested in appeasing his minority base and big money contributors to his campaign than he is in protecting the vast majority of the citizens of this country.

There's more. Trump said this a couple hours ago:
“If schools are mandated to be gun free zones, violence and danger are given an open invitation to enter. Almost all school shootings are in gun free zones,” Mr. Trump wrote Monday on Twitter. “Cowards will only go where there is no deterrent!”
Ok, let's buy that load of crap. So let's allow guns at national and statewide congressional meetings, political rallies, sporting events, courthouses, amusement parks, the White House, Capital Buildings across America including Washington, DC., stadiums, concerts, etc.
I just got back Arizona last week .................. funny that every bar had a sign out front banning guns in their establishment, and the entire part of Old Town Tucson that was participating in a 3-day street fair also banned guns.

CPAC is a gun free zone, our Congress is a gun free zone.

Well, according to Trump's astute observations, CPAC and Congress are places where "violence and danger are given an open invitation to enter" and "cowards will only go where there is no deterrent!”. His words, not mine.

And the cave in is complete.
As I said, Donald Trump is entirely predictable.
Conceding to N.R.A., Trump Abandons Brief Gun Control Promise
WASHINGTON — President Trump on Monday abandoned his promise to work for gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association, bowing to the gun group and embracing its agenda of armed teachers and incremental improvements to the background check system.
After the Florida high school massacre last month, Mr. Trump explicitly called on live television for raising the age limit to purchase rifles and backed 2013 legislation for near-universal background checks. He later told lawmakers that while the N.R.A. has “great power over you people, they have less power over me.”
But on Monday, it was the president who seemed to knuckle under, again dramatizing the sway that the N.R.A. still maintains in Republican circles.

So that brings us back to 'Square One'. Thanks, Donald.
