Pundits are chattering. Democrats are salivating. Come November mid terms we are going to have a Blue wave that wipes away the stain of Trumpism.

I dunno. Sounds like a serious case of counting your chickens ten months before they hatch to me.
A lot can change in 10 months.

Reasons for hope for the GOP.
1. If trends continue, we should have a pretty good year economically. That will help the GOP.
2. With Bannon gone the GOP civil war may be quiet, if not over. The White house won't be backing any insurgents in republican primaries. No bloody primaries helps the party. (The establishment won. The establishment always wins.)
3. GOP has a big fund raising edge.

Reasons for fear for the GOP.
1. History. The Presidents party nearly always loses seats in the first mid term. I don't see Trump upending history. Yea, folks will point to how improbable 2016 was. I respond with a very scientific, That was then this is now. LOL. Anyway, since 2016 Trump looks very mortal, and beatable.
2. Trump's personal toxicity. Policy aside, this is a very unpopular president politically. GOP candidates may take the hit by proxy for that.
3. A sour national mood. Despite a good economy, large majorities describe the direction of the country as bad. This could change.
4. I don't think that blacks, Hispanics, and suburban women are staying home this time.


Anyway, for what it's worth, it is overwhelmingly likely that the GOP loses house seats this year. Will it be enough to give democrats the majority? I'd give that a probability of 65%. Far from a slam dunk. The dems need a message. And they need to work hard.

The Senate stays in republican hands, unless all hell breaks loose this summer.
Wild cards? The Mueller investigation. Trump's big mouth. Korea.

So, if the dems get the House and republicans control the Senate not much changes?
Wrong.
If you control the House you get to chair committees, launch investigations.
That's how we got a Benghazi investigation (12 of them, in fact) that stopped only with the defeat of Hillary Clinton.
Trump will be investigated for EVERYTHING. It will amount to little concrete, but will be a daily trashing of his name. He should be afraid.
