THE BIG IDEA: President Trump laced into the attorney general, deputy attorney general, acting FBI director, former FBI director and the special counsel in an interview yesterday with the New York Times that, even by Trump standards, is remarkable.
The transcript of the 50-minute session in the Oval Office oozes with brooding grievance and reflects the degree to which he has adopted a bunker mentality. It also underscores how much Robert Mueller’s escalating investigation bothers and preoccupies the president six months into his term.
Perhaps most importantly, Trump’s comments raise a host of new questions about his respect for the independence of the Justice Department, FBI and special counsel.

He is going to eventually fire Mueller,,,,,, and republican lawmakers will have their characters, and their devotion to the Republic tested.
I don't think that they are up to it.

If he cans Mueller, it will become so obvious what's going on here that even the most ardent R-Tribe devotee will have to face the fact that Donald Trump himself is not a Republican. He is only using them to get what he wants for himself.

Kind of telling when you cannot believe in justice other than when you have a hand-picked man in charge.

You are right. Remember the judge with "Mexican heritage"? Now he's got 'a guy from Baltimore' to deal with, where according to Trump, 'there are few, if any, Republicans'.

The Constitution anticipates a President like this, and offers the mechanism to deal with it.
What the Constitution does NOT anticipate is a Congress that is indifferent to a President like this.
The time will come when Republican lawmakers will have to choose between tribalism and momentary advantage on the one hand, and duty, honor & the Republic on the other.

The problem as I see it, Goose, is that real, honest-to-goodness statesmen are few and far between in our legislative branch today.

He is toast politically. We will see who and what else he takes down with him.
