A Yuuuge,,,,, Flop

Trump’s ‘Pittsburgh, Not Paris’ Rally A Massive Flop Compared To Nationwide ‘March For Truth’
By Sean Colarossi on Sat, Jun 3rd, 2017 at 12:02 pm

It's clear where the political energy is in this country right now, and it's not with Donald Trump.

Competing events on Saturday provided a stark contrast between just how energized Donald Trump’s critics are compared to his supporters – the minority that exists, at least.

While thousands of Americans mobilized to demand a fair, independent investigation into the president’s ties to Russia in the ‘March for Truth’, a ‘Pittsburgh, Not Paris’ pro-Trump march meant to show support for the president’s stance on environmental issues turned out to be a total flop.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: A Yuuuge,,,,, Flop

Let's just revel in the irony for a moment.

The "Pittsburgh, not Paris",  America first rally was held in DC's Lafayette Park.

Lafayette Park Honors General Marquis Gilbert de Lafayette.

Lafayette came from a wealthy FRENCH family.  He became convinced that the American cause in its revolutionary war was noble, and traveled to the New World to help the fledgling nation.

There, he was made a major general.
Lafayette was wounded during the Battle of Brandywine. He served with distinction in the Battle of Rhode Island. In the middle of the war, he returned home to lobby for an increase in French support of the American cause. He again sailed to America in 1780, and was given senior positions in the Continental Army. In 1781, troops in Virginia under his command blocked forces led by Cornwallis until other American and French forces could position themselves for the decisive Siege of Yorktown.

Re: A Yuuuge,,,,, Flop

It looks like even Trump didn't give a rat's carcass:

Donald Trump blew off a Pittsburgh not Paris rally that the Trump campaign hyped and held across the street from the White House so that he could play golf.

Instead of going to his own rally to greet supporters across the street, this is what Trump was doing according to the White House Press Pool as provided to PoliticusUSA, “After an uneventful ride along highways and byways toward Sterling, Virginia, motorcade pulled up to the Trump National Golf Club at 10:42 a.m.

Motorcade split off and pool is now holding in a spectacular clubhouse overlooking indoor tennis courts.

Trump blew off his own supporters to play golf.

The Trump campaign gave the impression on the
event announcement that Trump could be there, but to be fair, they never specifically said that he would attend on the invitation, “As you know, the President has been under siege from the mainstream media and the Democrats, especially now that he put American jobs first by withdrawing from the Paris Accord. Therefore, we are organizing a group to demonstrate our support for President Trump and his fearless leadership.”

A president with record low approval ratings can’t afford to pass up a chance to greet supporters, especially when he has so few, but Trump’s actions speak volumes about his priorities. The President talks about “the people,” but he wouldn’t go out of his way to arrange to spend a single minute greeting supporters, who were ACROSS THE STREET.

Trump would rather play golf than get his hands dirty talking to any of the people who support him.

His decision on the Paris Climate Accord was so important that he didn’t even bother to show up at a rally in his honor.

"Trump would rather play golf than get his hands dirty talking to any of the people who support him."

Wait . . . wasn't that a constant criticism leveled at Obama whenever he took a day off to play golf?

The difference is that Trump spends nearly every weekend at one of his golf resorts . . . totally at taxpayer expense. But, I guess he has rationalized, in his own mind and convinced his lame 'base' supporters, that he deserves it because of all the work he's doing for the benefit of "the American people".
