Jeff Flake gets slammed by 16 year old about Title X

A young woman who relies on healthcare provided by Planned Parenthood slammed Jeff Flake at a recent town hall meeting for his support of Title X. This was recently signed by Trump after partisan passage in the legislature. The bill was designed to cut funding from Planned Parenthood and other healthcare facilities that provide services for people without any other choice. The partisans that hustled the bill trhrough contended that Planned Parenthood and other healthcare facilities for women were nothing more than "abortion clinics" and, therefore should not receive any federal funding. Regardless of the fact that this is a total misconception at best and blatant lie at its worst, people that voted in favor of this measure have basically denied women, especially in rural areas, from accessing one of their primary sources of healthcare. The young woman speaking to Flake in this video hits the nail on the head, and Flake does his best to deflect because he is unable to refute her concerns.

I had written senator Toomey about his support of this bill to deny health services to people and got this response pulled out of the file by one of his staff that, once again, did not specifically address any concerns I put forth, but merely is a lame attempt to justify his and his party's position.

Dear Mr.

Thank you for contacting me concerning H.J. Res. 43. I appreciate hearing from you.

As you may know, in December, 2017, the Obama Administration issued a new regulation related to the Title X Family Planning Program. This program provides federal funds to states and localities to distribute to organizations that provide family planning services and related services. The change denies states and localities the flexibility to distribute these funds to organizations they deem best equipped to provide these services.

Specific to your concerns, Representative Diane Black (R-TN) introduced H.J. Res. 43 on January 30, 2017. Among its provisions, this legislation would provide for Congressional disapproval of the new regulation. H.J. Res. 43 passed both the House of Representative and the Senate, with my support, and is currently awaiting action by the President.
While reasonable people may differ on the question of abortion rights, I believe we should all be able to agree on policies that encourage adoption over abortion, that avoid taxpayer funding of abortions, and that allow parental involvement in decisions that involve minors. I will continue to support policies that further these important goals and protect all human life.

Thank you again for your correspondence. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of assistance.
Sincerely,

Signature
Pat Toomey
U.S. Senator, Pennsylvania

Re: Jeff Flake gets slammed by 16 year old about Title X

Undoubtedly the calculus on this was to appease the voters that did not want any funding for abortions, BUT depending how this is implemented there will be a lot of women who will be totally upset by the passage of this bill (and NOT ones who get abortions). I hope this backfires big time on the people who sponsored this bill as they were totally tone deaf as to the overall support that Planned Parenthood gives to women.

It is similar to the likely cuts to programs like Meals on Wheels. Yet another tone deaf reading of what helps the American people.

All of this may be pandering to the Right but is is NOT Making America Great again. Just the opposite.
