Nearly $500K in campaign funds has gone to Trump-owned entities: report

Nearly $500,000 from President Trump's 2020 re-election campaign has gone directly to Trump-owned restaurants, hotels and golf clubs, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

Of the more than $6 million in campaign funds spent in the first three months of 2017, $274,013 has gone toward rent at Trump Tower, the report said, citing Federal Election Commission filings.

Another $58,685 has gone toward lodging at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., and $13,828 has gone toward renting facilities and catering costs at Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.
During his 2016 campaign, Trump's campaign spent more than $14 million on Trump-branded companies and family-owned businesses.

The filings come amid growing criticism over the president's approach to distancing himself from the Trump Organization.

FEC filings this week revealed that more than $42 million has been raised since January for Trump's reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee — more than twice the amount raised by President Obama after his 2008 election win in the same time frame.

Unlike Obama, Trump has not stopped fundraising since his election victory last November. More than $42 million has been raised for President Trump's campaign efforts and the Republican National Committee (RNC) since January.

Well, the people that donated cash to enhance Trump Corp. business ventures can feel good about that, I guess.  That's how family-owned businesses operate, and the people that sent in the cash can pretend to feel part of the business, too.  They can tell their friends, "Hey, I invested in a very successful business to help make America great again."

Not a big surprise.

Some think this is what will bring him down (not disenfranchising the Presidency from his business).

I don't think he ever tried to hide his title, President of the United States, from the CEO of his business.  It seems his supporters seem to be ok with that.  At least for now.

So what!
It's legal and has been properly reported. And oh shame they are raising money for the next election Oh my... What could happen next.

I believe this for office space that the secret service has in Trump tower. ($274,013 has gone toward rent at Trump Tower)

I believe it current is being challenged by lawyers arguing that a provision of the Constitution known as the Emoluments Clause that bans payments from foreign powers like the ones to Mr. Trump’s companies. They cite fears among the framers of the Constitution that United States officials could be corrupted by gifts or payments.

I have to agree with Common, here.  Everything Trump has done with the cash that people invested in him is completely legal.  He is using the dough for his 2020 re-election campaign and to support of his family-owned business, aka the corporately owned USA.  Common feels good about it so why should we complain?  His contributors are more than happy to help him build his family's personal fortune.

Well, it's unprecedented, and raises numerous potential conflicts of interest which may not be in the best interests of the Republic.

Thus, it is a perfectly relevant and worthy topic of conversation.
Step away from your rampart, and open your mind.

Why would campaign funds be used to pay for secret service office space?
