Pennsylvania state park and forest rangers are the latest groups to start carrying naloxone, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opiate overdose. At a news conference at Gifford Pinchot State Park on Wednesday, Gov. Tom Wolf announced that the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will train and equip about 300 employees with naloxone.

They join the growing ranks of first responders and professionals — police officers, firefighters, probation officers, and even some school nurses — who now carry the life-saving drug."We are the first responders when something goes wrong in a state park," said DCNR spokesman Terry Brady, referring to the rangers.

There have been seven drug-related deaths on DCNR land since 2015, and more than a dozen times when assistance was provided related to a drug overdose, according to a press release from Wolf's office.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”
