White House to lift federal hiring freeze
The White House will lift President Trump’s federal hiring freeze on Wednesday following fire from critics who said it hampered the government from carrying out core functions.
The end of the freeze is part of guidance ordering federal departments and agencies to submit restructuring plans to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) by the fall.
“It does not mean the agencies will be free to hire willy-nilly,” OMB Director Mick Mulvaney told reporters Tuesday.
“What we’re doing tomorrow is replacing the across-the-board hiring freeze that was put in place on day one and replacing it with a smarter plan, a more strategic plan, a more surgical plan.”
Trump signed an executive order on his first full work day in the White House that temporarily halted all non-military federal hiring, an attempt to fulfill his campaign promise to “drain the swamp” and reduce the size of government.
But the freeze resulted in an increased backlog of benefits claims at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Department, which Trump pledged to strengthen during the campaign.
It also created delays in the processing of Social Security checks, staff shortages at federal prisons, the closure of childcare facilities at military bases and fewer workers at the Food and Drug Administration to work on drug approvals.

Signing EO's is totally different than getting real laws on the books and working with Congress as he has already found out.

The White House has lifted the federal hiring freeze after the Office of Management and Budget issued new guidance that recommends measures for agencies on how to reduce the federal workforce’s size, restructure missions and evaluate employee performance, Federal News Radio reported Tuesday.Jason Miller writes OMB Director Mick Mulvaney released the 14-page guidance to agency executives in compliance with an executive order on government reorganization that President Donald Trump signed in March.
The document requires agencies to determine and submit their four-year workforce reduction plans by September as part of the budget request for fiscal 2019 and directs the Office of Personnel Management to give agencies templates for early retirement authority requests and expedite reviews for such requests within a month.The memo also asks agencies to submit a plan to OMB on how to optimize employee performance and requires OMB to conduct a meeting with agencies to facilitate reviews of the organizations’ draft reform plans by June 30, Miller wrote.OMB noted in the guidance that it will begin in February 2018 to monitor the agencies’ progress with their reorganization plans.
Mulvaney said he will hand over to Trump a final reorganization and restructuring plan for agencies by March 2018, the report added.

"Trump's hiring freeze was never really across the board; it exempted military personnel, who make up more than a third of the federal workforce, and it also exempted hiring for national security and public safety."

We could go on with this ...... Trump can say this and do that with the budget, but how about he submits his travel budget and his tax returns. Let's start there. Geez.
Just come out and say we need to cut federal spending for education, the National Endowment of the Arts, Amtrak, the EPA, etc. so we, as nation, can foot the bill to keep Melania in NYC and I can shuttle back and forth to Mar-a-Lago. Just level with us, Donald.

Trump's calls for Government belt tightening stand in stark contrast with his use of government money for himself and his family.
It is what it is.
