Re: ABC News host Diane Sawyer seemed more surprised that former Olympic

One part of the interview I caught was when they were giving some historical details around Jenner's life. I got the impression that the endorsement deals and general media spotlight dimmed in the 80's for Jenner as his time being an Olympic hero. While he wasn't in financial trouble, I certainly don't think he was living a luxurious life.

Then they started talking about him marrying the Kardashian mom and them getting along pretty well (I didn't realize how long they had been together). She acted as Jenner's manager and booked him for a lot of motivational speaking engagements. And then they hit it big when they started the reality show.

The point of all this as how it relates to Jenner's political beliefs is that I don't think he has a clue as to how Mitch McConnell or John Boehner votes or what the GOP platform is as it relates to the LGBT community.

I think Jenner likes republicans because he's sitting in a pretty high tax bracket these days and wants to keep the taxman at bay as much as possible.

My point, exactly. For the moment I am not arguing right or wrong.

What I'm asking is this: in light of Mr. McConnell's voting record, how could you reach the conclusion that he would be "Very receptive" to the idea of being a champion of LGBT rights?
Answer, you could only reach that conclusion if you have a severe knowledge deficit of current politics.
Right or wrong, Mitch isn't going to champion this issue.

We MAY be going down the rabbit hole, but the reason that this is getting ANY traction at all is because of your statements. I am sure the Republican party (in general) does not want to address this touchy area and many in power such as McConnel do not want to go against their very conservative base.

On the D-tribe side they are more receptive to LGBT rights but again I don't think they want to make a big deal out of it either as it is a tricky area in terms of voter support and that is the bottom line.

I knew right away this would be something the R-tribe wanted to duck.

Seriously? What statements have I made on this site, with its 31 registered users, that is giving this story "traction"?
What have I written that you disagree with?

I did not mean traction here on the Exchange from what you said, but rather traction at a national and general public level. Your statements merely stated why there is national attention to Jenner's statement. Gues I should have made it clearer.

Like I said earlier, I just knew it was going to draw political attention.
