Pennsylvania Senate Democrats were hit by a ransomware attack that has kept senators and staff out of their computer network since early Friday morning, according to NBC News. Democratic leader Sen. Jay Costa said in a statement that the Democrats were working with law enforcement agencies and Microsoft to resolve the problem. There was no word on whether a ransom was demanded to unlock the data, or if there was a political motive behind the lockout.
Attempts to access the Democratic Caucus resulted in a database error message. All four caucuses use separate servers, and it appears only the Democrats were affected.
