Re: Trump says he will skip the White House Correspondents' Dinner

First President since Reagan (who was recovering from an assassination attempt) to not attend the WHCA.

I think it's good that he's not going and if I was in charge of WHCA, I wouldn't have extended an invitation.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

Re: Trump says he will skip the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Trump the autocratic narcissist can't take sarcastic criticism even in setting where poking fun is totally acceptable. In the past when he attended, he fumed at the barbs tossed his way, and when he wasn't there, he still got skewered. His thin skin won't allow him to be the brunt of jokes, especially after his recent tweet storm tantrums against the press.

Trump, the widely anticipated target of Obama's barbs who was memorably skewered in 2011, was not in attendance -- a fact that did not go unnoticed by the commander in chief.
"I am a little hurt he's not here tonight," Obama said. "We had so much fun the last time. And it is surprising -- you have a room full of reporters, celebrities, cameras. And he says no. Is this dinner too tacky for The Donald? What could he be possibly doing instead? Eating a Trump Steak? Tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel? What's he doing?"

Washington salivated at the prospect of a sequel to his blistering evisceration of Trump in 2011. Back then, the President used that speech to publicly ridicule Trump -- who was in the audience -- for the billionaire's claims that Obama was not a natural-born American and was therefore disqualified from being President.

"Obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience," Obama said then, slamming Trump for his supposed displays of leadership on "Celebrity Apprentice."
"These are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled sir, well handled," Obama said sarcastically.

There's some thought that Trump being embarrassed at the WHCA was the beginning of him planning to run for the White House as a way to stick it to the establishment.

I think that it's great that Trump isn't going. One less time I have to watch Orange Hitler on TV.

Besides, traditionally the President participates in some self deprecating humor at that dinner. I cannot imagine that Trump has the least amount of self awareness of his shortcomings that would allow him to do that. No, he'd scream fake news, brag that he has the biggest,,,,,,electoral college vote since Washington, etc.
Good riddance.
He can Tweet nasty remarks from home.

Calling the President of the United States "Orange Hitler" A vile disgraceful comment!  Extremely troubling that a so called "educator" would spout hateful rhetoric!   The dem plan:  Deny, Dispute, Destroy

Please spare us the mock indignaton, and direct your comments to the topic of the thread, rather than attacking other posters, and parroting your delusional "Dem plan".

Re: Trump says he will skip the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Trump appears to be happy to live in his own bubbly and using the Presidency to continue his campaign vs being a POTUS of the entire population.

A Uniter he is NOT !

The opposition criticized Obama for being divisive, but any sense of that has been totally dwarfed by Trump and his Administration.
