The Young Pope

I've been watching HBO's series The Young Pope.

The cinematography is gorgeous. Much of the outdoor filming shows off the Vatican and Rome, a city I love. The interior scenes, with the rich ceremony and costuming can  evoke Renaissance paintings at times.

That is the good news.
The acting is uneven.
And the plot is bad.
Well, not bad. Awful.
Preposterously, sometimes even  laugh out loud, awful.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
