Re: Flynn's resignation doesn't end controversy surrounding White House

Starting to look like Watergate and Iran/Contra from previous Administrations.

THIS, however, raises the stakes in National Security !

This is very troubling.
Trump fans are trying to pass this off as "getting acquainted" with other governments.
Frankly, that does not pass the smell test.
The Trumps were not in contact with the Russian diplomatic officials. They were in Contact with Russian Intelligence.

Secondly, if you want to build relations with other nations, you get in contact with other nations,,,,, Japan, Germany, France, England.
The ONLY power the Trumpers seem to have talked with is Russia.
The only power they talked to was the one that hacked the DNC and tried to get Trump elected.
The only power they talked to was the one that Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn took money from.
The only power they talked to is the one Donald Trump praises.

What is going on?
We need a full investigation.
We need to see Trump's tax returns.

The R-tribe is circling the wagons to try to prevent either of the above.
Jeff Sessions has already said he had no intent to pursue the Russian connection thing.
Also the R-tribe already rejected a request for Trump's tax returns in a vote in the Ways and Means Committee by 23-15 which was on Party lines (surprise, surprise).

Wonder just how much longer the R-tribe can cover for the Pres and his entanglements.

This is NOT GOING AWAY quietly.

Fake headline again! but it is the New York Times!
Here is the breaking news.... A rehash of the same information.
Who is giving out classified information? It's a classified investigation.  American official's?
The dems and media is melt down again. We are back to the Russian excuse.
Just a great big pile of steaming of innuendo!

"according to four current and former American officials."

"All of the current and former officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because the continuing investigation is classified."

"The intelligence agencies then sought to learn whether the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians on the hacking or other efforts to influence the election."
"The officials interviewed in recent weeks said that, so far, they had seen no evidence of such cooperation."

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”

Well, if screaming "fake news" is the fairytale that lets you sleep at night you go for it.

This is not going away. And you're going to have to explain why your people would reach out to one nation and one nation only, and it just happened to be the one that was trying to rig our election.

Tick tock tick tock

Actually Common, there is nothing fake about the NYT headlines at all. You may not like that this information is coming out. There ARE obviously leakers who are disseminating this information. The DOJ and FBI have confirmed that they are looking at calls made and have been for a while. They have made no secret of that fact. As to the actual investigation(s) and whether it proceeds to make criminal charges, all the agencies have been tight lipped on that fact (as they always should be till charges are made). We already saw the mess that was created when a department makes announcement prior to concluding an investigation in this particular election alone. The article was well written and merely attemps to recap what has come out to this point.

The Administration likes to keep the focus off of Flynn for obvious reasons.

Like I said, THIS is NOT going away by a long shot.

Trump keeps blaming the leakers and the media.

Well, Mr Trump YOU fired Flynn !  If he did not do anything wrong then you should have stood by him, but YOU KNEW long ago and hoped that it would go away. Well, it didn't and IT WON'T !

That was pretty amazing yesterday, Trump blaming the media for the departure of Flynn.

YOU got rid of him, Mr. President.
If this whole thing was nothing more than the media being unfair to Flynn, why didn't you have the stones to stand up for him, and keep Flynn on the job?
I thought that you were supposed to be some tough guy who doesn't go the easy route, tells it like it is , blah blah blah.

Mike Pence must be wondering what he got himself into.

Re: Flynn's resignation doesn't end controversy surrounding White House

I guess Arnold was busy on the set of The Apprentice so, Donald (so famous for uttering "you're fired" in his make believe board room) left the task to his close friend Darth Vader in the White House to tell Flynn he was out of a job after a couple of weeks.

President Trump apparently had chief strategist Stephen Bannon do the dirty work of asking National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to resign, The New York Times reported Tuesday. Bannon had reportedly been pushing for the dismissal since Friday, when it first came to light that Flynn had misled Vice President Mike Pence about his discussion with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Initially, Flynn denied he and Kislyak had discussed U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia over alleged interference ahead of the U.S. presidential election — a claim Pence then repeated — only to later admit they had, in fact, talked about the sanctions.

By Tuesday morning, different versions of the story of Flynn's resignation were floating around. Counselor Kellyanne Conway said earlier Tuesday that Flynn "had decided it was best to resign" and had "made that decision." Then, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) suggested during a press conference Tuesday morning that Trump had been the one to request Flynn's resignation, a claim that White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer repeated at his afternoon press conference.

Apparently it was Trump's love of loyalty that inspired him to foist the responsibility off on Bannon. A person who "frequently speaks to Trump" told Politico the president was hesitant to give Flynn the axe because he doesn't "like to fire people who are loyal." "He has this reputation of being a 'you're fired' kind of guy," the Trump insider said, "but he really didn't want to have that conversation."
