Flynn's resignation doesn't end controversy surrounding White House

Apologies to the Topic "Who is Going Off the Island First", but this likely will be a topic of itself politically for a while. Obviously the embarassment to VP Pence was the tipping point, but the article does bring up the question that will ultimately be asked "Who knew and when did they know it" within the Administration and IF the trail leads back to the POTUS that will embroil him and his WH even more in their ties to the Russian government and possibly lead to unveiling exactly WHAT the Justice Dept has had all this while in their dossiers.

The MIGHT wind of being a huge deal.

The bad thing RIGHT NOW is that it leaves our National Security Dept in a shambles for the short run till a replacement is found and his or her directions will become the new voice of of National Security.

Re: Flynn's resignation doesn't end controversy surrounding White House

There is no way that Flynn has that conversation with the Russians without his boss' knowledge and approval.
This goes to the top. And I am sure Pence has figured that out.

We are seeing the tip of the iceberg as far as investigations, and trouble go.

White House was warned Flynn could be blackmailed by Russia

This will be a huge "black eye" for the Administration if it can be confirmed as fact. It will potentially have consequences elsewhere in the Administration as well.

NOT off to a good start.

Re: Flynn's resignation doesn't end controversy surrounding White House

You might recall that Flynn led the crowd at the Republican National Convention in chants of “ Lock her up ” last summer. “If I did a tenth of what she did, I would be in jail today,” he said.

Well, Mike, I guess "What goes around, comes around" !

You know, it's beginning to look like Donald Trump might be cooked over this.  I wonder what the GOP is thinking about all of this, too.  Might have been better to choose an actual Republican candidate from the start instead of this guy to lead the tribe.

What a mess.
Oh well, you give a guy a pass to be a serial,,,um,,, exaggerator, and this is what you end up with.
Hopefully, young Americans in uniform won't pay the ultimate price for the foolishness of the electorate.

Re: Flynn's resignation doesn't end controversy surrounding White House

So, IF they can hook Flynn into having talked to Trump to authorize removing sanctions and THAT is what he talked about to the Russians, IF then Flynn testifies that this is what happened, does that mean the President could be prosecuted under the Logan Act since they were BOTH private citizens at that juncture ?

IF (and I say IF) this comes to pass.... WHOA NELLIE ! It will be almost impossible for the hardliners in Congress to walk THAT ONE back !

Re: Flynn's resignation doesn't end controversy surrounding White House

It appears to be coming out that Trump staffers knew of the Flynn issue a long time ago (and one would assume Trump as well), BUT our V.P. did NOT ???   WTF ?  Is Pence not in with the "in crowd" that gets all the inside info ?

Things like this have happened in previous Presidencies. When Truman took office after Roosevelt died, he was unaware that the A-bomb was being developed till he became President. Roosevelt did not particularly like Truman but used him for getting the votes to get re-elected. Politics is a strange animal and this Administration is one of the strangest in recent times so it would not surprise me that things are working the same way here.

Here is a pretty good NYT article that details much of what is currently known about the Russian investigations being carried on.

Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence

And, Comey knew!

This thing is a mess.
It is time for investigations and hearings.

Time to ask:

Anything less that a full investigation would be to show a disregard for the safety of your fellow Americans.
