Ok, I'll make an exception for the Palazzo Vecchio, but I'm here, not there.

Tonight's rain→snow storm is one of the hardest in my 30+ years as professional meteorologist. Could be 1"; could be 10". Take your pick!
Hope for the best but prepare for the rest.
Snow equipment gassed up and on the trickle charger; woodstove (which had gone cold on Sunday) "primed" with paper, charred wood, pellets, etc...just needs one match to make a quick ignition if the power goes out, a very real possibility with the combination of heavy wet snow plus moderately high winds.
Microwaveable MREs on standby . The generator can power the microwave but not the oven.

My emergency cooker go-to in the event of a power loss is a fondue pot. I can heat anything with a few drops from a good can of fluid. As for heat loss--get outta of town! Fortunately, I live in an area that seldom ever loses power which is good because I've no other source of heat. Nearly the entire area has underground wiring.

Lost power for three days after the February 2013 ice storm...had the stove positively humming with newly cut 12-14" diameter slices of a cherry which had fallen right by the house. Normally I wouldn't think of burning unseasoned wood but with the stove temp kept around 500 degrees there was little danger of having a creosote builldup.
House only lost 2 degrees of temperature during those days.

It's just getting started. The governor declared a delay for people in the Harrisburg complex.
My office left the decision to risk my life up to me. So no delay there.
I feel loved.
Gag.

Up here in the Netherlands we received the low end of what was predicted--4" max. My driveway and walks are cleared already by an 11 year-old visiting his grandparents who live a few doors away. He wanted $10 but no way would I allow him to do my drive and walks for that so he finished and left with a $20 bill.

Just outside of Philly, the snow is gone and the sun is out. It snowed something fierce and while I am sure 5-6 inches fell, I just shoveled the driveway and there may have been two inches on the ground.
The timing of the storm was perfect. My office is closed. Wife's office is closed. Kid's school closed. Had a lazy morning of pancakes and bacon and watching the snow. And now it's all done.
Nice.

We had maybe two inches of actual snow in New Freedom - I thought it wouldn't be a big deal to clean off the cars, but then I discovered a nice thick layer of ice under the snow. Snow didn't even accumulate on the main roads and the back roads were slush but our schools closed anyway. Whatever, nice quiet day.
I did just go out for lunch and ran into a few spots where snow blowing across farmland caused whiteout conditions for a few seconds. That was fun.
The wet snow sticks to everything and makes for the most beautiful scenes...I was tempted to run home and grab my camera to snap a few shots but...you know...work.
