I'll revise my remarks
What happened in Berkeley last night was a disgrace to free speech. In the very place where the free speech movement began in the 60's.

Yep, scum like Milo should be able to speak so EVERYONE can see the scum that he is.

In a way kind of reminds me of the protests to the Vietnam War at the same college.
Protests, unfortunately, for all that they are trying to accomplish are often laced with radical elements. This has been true throughout even the short life of our country.

He should be heard so we can all see how wrong his ideas are.
As an aside, we really need to rattle these schools and these kids who feel like they shouldn't be exposed to differing opinions. Free speech zones. Safe Spaces. Talk about privilege and who has it and who doesn't. Identity politics. This is not helping the generation coming up.
We can be politically correct by being kind, empathetic, and reaching out to understand other's history and point of view. But we can't shut down conversations, or speeches. Otherwise, we just end up living in these bubbles filled with pre-disposed opinions.

Scrubbing White House websites of all references to climate change sure sets a great example bubbles filled with pre-disposed opinions.
The problems that you identified are not confined to college campuses.
I would argue that they aren't even predominant at college campuses.

Well you are a lot closer to it than I am, so I'll defer to your insights.
That said, I found this article that ranked the Top 20 colleges by their safe spaces.

Tell me that Trump America isn't a bubble as well.
Lots of diversity of ideas over there?
That is my point.

Personally I don't blame the students for abhorring this type of individual. They should. And they should turn out in mass to object to him. A community such as this does have a right to reject racism and bigotry. The violence is a different issue. You can overwhelmingly change events with peaceful protests. Like I said earlier though, our Nation has been shaped by protests that have altered our course of history and all of them have not been peaceful. It is a fine line for sure.

Lager's two quotes here are right on the mark. I couldn't have said it better myself.

They got worked up over some chap who'd come to deliver hatred?
I don't agree with what they did but I can understand the why of it.
