Klandestine Man

I was at the St Austine Film festival this past couple of days (it is an outgrowth of the Ft Lauderdale Film festival) and has wonderful local, international, and documentary films each year.

One of these was the film Klandestine Man about a man named Stetson Kennedy whose name I was unfamiliar with. He was a white man who became involved with civil rights back in the 40s. It was a remarkable documentary. It even highlighted some of the famous civil rights actions right here in St Augustine itself (one of which involved Dr Martin Luther King). Here is a little synopsis of the film. If you have the opportunity, it is worth your time.

Stetson Kennedy waged a lifelong war against racial inequality, institutional segregation and social injustice. An audacious, determined, larger-than-life character, his daring actions demonstrate how one man bravely risked his life to transform the destiny of a nation. A privileged son of Southern heritage, a young Kennedy could not ignore the bigotry and intolerance around him. In the 1940's, he went undercover to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan and fed information to the producers of the nationally broadcast Superman radio show to expose the identities of their leaders. A prolific author, crusading journalist, tireless activist, early environmentalist and chronic womanizer, Kennedy was a wild man, not above embellishment or self-promotion, but his courage, his actions and his accomplishments made him a legend. KLANDESTINE MAN is his story.- Written by [url=http://www.imdb.com/search/title?plot_author=Spark%20Media/Rabble%20Rouser&view=simple&sort=alpha&ref_=ttpl_pl_1]Spark Media/Rabble Rouser
