The Sound of Freedom

Let's hear it!

The number of planned protests and rallies this year is far above what has been typical at recent inaugurations with some 30 permits granted in Washington for anti-trump rallies and sympathy protests planned from Boston to Los Angeles.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: The Sound of Freedom

FWIW, I think today should be about celebrating our nation, our continuity, and the peaceful transfer of power.

Of course anyone who wants to protest can do so. But I think that can be all be saved for tomorrow and every day thereafter.

I think that, when more than half the people who voted chose someone else,
The protests are an important word whispered into the president's ear.
"Political advantage dies quickly if you do not build upon it".

Re: The Sound of Freedom

Anyway, this is beyond our control.
The nation is badly divided.
A man just won our highest office by exploiting those divisions.

Of course there are going to be protests.
And the guy at the top,,, the guy who should be healing those divisions, Loves it.
Conflict is his oxygen.
That last things that the trumpers want are peace love and understanding,

I agree.

To everything, turn, turn, turn.
There is a season, turn, turn, turn.
And a time to every purpose under heaven.
A time to build up, a time to break down.
A time to dance, a time to mourn.
A time to cast away stones.
A time to gather stones together.

When the parades are finished, the bands done playing, and the inaugural balls close down, it will be time to get to work. Then we will begin to see if this guy can be an effective, fair, and reasonable leader.

It's going to be an interesting 4 years.

Re: The Sound of Freedom

Driving into work this morning, NPR was doing a live report from the national mall and in the background, loud and clear, were chants of "F*ck Trump".

Should be a fun day.

Re: The Sound of Freedom

Personally, I have no problem with people protesting Trump.  He has certainly done and said some things that are concerning and offensive to many people.

However, proesting by saying "F... Trump" says all I need to know about that person and group.  And there is no excuse for the rioting and destruction of property, it just goes to show the low moral character of those individuals.
