Why We Should Rid Ourselves Of Bubbles

https://thefederalist.com/2017/01/10/why-we-should-rid-ourselves-of-bubbles/

From the article:

As the Trump era begins, media entities and conservatives alike should resolve to avoid bubbles – the former in order to cover this White House fairly, and the latter to respond to its policies in ways consistent with American conservatism’s philosophy of laissez faire economics and individual rights. This starts with taking a hard view of our prior assumptions about our neighbors. G.K. Chesterton wrote that “What embitters the world is not excess of criticism, but an absence of self-criticism.” In 2017, let us resolve to look to the beam in our own eyes before citing the mote in the eyes of our fellow Americans.

Re: Why We Should Rid Ourselves Of Bubbles

It is a noble sentiment. And sage advice.
Americans are increasingly isolated in bubbles of their own construction. We are increasingly isolated geographically, and recently we have isolated ourselves by the media outlets we use. Our bubbles become echo chambers reinforcing our bias.

Changing this will require effort. But, I will give it a try. I read the NYT, and Washington Post daily. I will expand my horizons. The crazy sites like legal insurrection and Breitbart I will NOT consider. But I will read the WSJ and National review to get a conservative perspective.
Will any  Trumpers be willing to make the same leap? You have to have the courage to look at things you might not want to see.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
