Omg

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Not surprised a little bit. They are following the lead of the POTUS Elect, who has an aversion to transparency.

Donald Trump really has taken over the Republican Party.

Secret meeting--couldn't even wait until tomorrow's opening day.  Speaks for how this Congress is going to function.

Please keep this mind....

The Republicans say they were given a mandate to govern. Personally, I may not like it, but I  can't disagree with them.

They could have focused on jobs, infrastructure, cyber-security, or he'll, even declared war on ISIS. They could have focused on entitlement reform, or regulatory reform.

They chose instead to roll back ethical standards.

Let that sink in.

.

Next up, remove protections on Big Banks, and investment firms.
Then reduce the costs business incur doing things like keeping the air and water clean.

That warm feeling you're getting is the trickle down.

Re: House GOP guts ethics panel

Turns out that this needs to be voted on in the whole House.

My guess is that this won't pass because no Democrat will vote for it, so there only needs to be 30 or so GOP reps to vote against it.

One of those 30 will be Paul Ryan and I'm sure he'll be able to influence others.

According to the NYT a vote of the full House may occur today.
Which ever way it goes, the damage is done.
This is a huge self-inflicted wound, whether the Republicans succeed in passing it or not.

Imagine,,,,,, all this talk about how Hillary was "crooked". All this talk about "Draining the swamp",,,and,,,,,,,
This is the first F-ing thing they bring to the floor?

Ethics ? ! ? !

There's ethics in the legislature ? ? ?

I guess they feel there's no need to investigate something that doesn't exist
