I see no one tried to answer why Rubio is faring not so well this year within the R-tribe vs last year. Any thoughts ?
Didn't Rubio make some remark showing compasssion for current immigrants that drove "the base" batty?
I was wondering if his "2013 GOP State of the Union rebuttal TV speech" that had him appearing cotton-mouthed could have had an effect ? He certainly got lambasted for it. I know it is not a big deal, but people DO pay a lot of attention to things like that (take the Nixon TV debate that very much hurt him in the viewpoint of most who watched it on TV (yet those who only heard it did not have the same takeaway). Not sure, just throwing it out there.

That speech did not help him, for sure. I personally didn't get the fuss, but oh well.
Rubio did, in 2013, support the senate bipartisan immigration bill, and that set off a lot of conservative republicans.
He has since changed to talking almost exclusively about border security in an attempt to get back in their good graces.
