I can't say that I've ever been 'excited' about any candidate. I vote because I personally like to participate, but every single election I have picked between what I thought was the lesser of two evils, or just wrote in my own name.
I completely understand why someone would just stay home on Election Day, and I really don't blame them.I don't blame them.
I just think that if you don't participate that you lose any credibility when you complain.
I disagree. A lot of people stay home because they don't feel that any candidate is worthy. If they voted anyway, and just wrote in their own name, or Mickey Mouse, how does that give them any more credibility if they complain?
Writing in Mickey mouse is really the same as not voting. I don't think that people who do that have any credibility when complaining either.

How about if they write in their own name? Hey, I'll bet all of our presidents voted for themselves.

If you are running for president fine. If it's just a lark, then you are wasting your time.
Hey, you use your own judgment to decide what to do.
And I will use my judgment to decide who I find credible. It's kinda up to the individual.

So,then to you, you can only credibly complain if you vote for one of the choices on the ballot?

Where are we going with this little game?

Not a game, just a question. You said that people who don't vote aren't credible when they complain. Then you say that people who do vote, but write in themselves, but they do vote, aren't credible either when they complain. Are people's complaints only credible if they vote for someone who is on the ballot?

I'm not sure what it is you are trying to get me to say, or why you are spinning what I have said.
Let's go back to post #9.
I stated that if you don't participate in the political process, that I don't think you are very credible when you complain.
Doing silly things like writing in Mickey Mouse is pretty much the equivalent of non participation.
This is what I believe. You don't have to like it.

I'm not talking about writing in Mickey Mouse. I'm talking about writing in yourself, or a family member, or whoever (a real live person). Would that give them credibility if they complain? They did vote, and for a real person. Or does the vote have to be for someone who is on the ballot in order to be credible when complaining?

You will have to decide for yourself who you find credible.

I already told you that I think people who don't vote at all and complain are completely credible.
I'm asking you, who do you find credible? Does a person have to vote for someone whose name is on the ballot for YOU to find them credible if they complain?
