Yea, what in the world is going on with these two statements?

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

How do you think Trump should have responded after Putin said he was going to increase his countries nuclear capabilities to be able to penetrate missile defense systems?

NOT the way he did, for sure !  I guess you are in favor of nuclear proliferation ?

Re: Trump, Putin both seek to boost their nuclear capability

I'm thinking that Twitter is fine for taunting a political rival, or complaining about an SNL skit. But I don't think that we should deal with threats of nuclear proliferation with 140 character eruptions.
How about you call the guy, or have one of your retired generals call Putin and spell out the dangers.
Like, if you start building more nukes we will be obligated to do the same. And, we've got really deep pockets.
So, all you will end up with, Vlad is more missiles pointed at you. You could also hint about arming Ukraine.

But, you don't do this all publicly. If I send a provocative tweet, the Russians will feel compelled save face with their own escalation in the rhetoric etc.

Your guess would be WRONG.

Why would I be in favor of the spread of nuclear weapons, fissionable material or nuclear technology and information to nations that don't currently possess it?

Why don't we get back on topic.

Proliferation also refers to the increase in numbers whether a nation currently possesses them or not. That is the case here and what BOTH sides appear to be taunting the other into doing. Again the question. Personally I thought the reply was horrible and will only increase the dangers to us and others. We have been on a decent track over the last x years to try to halt the need for more nuclear armament. This latest back and forth is not a good thing.
