Ted Cruz has not been a favorite of mine, but this article really blows the lid off his attempts to portray himself as a regular guy who will stick up for the average American if he is elected:
It's not just Cruz. The influx of campaign donations through these PACS, especially with court rulings that protect donor lists and no limits to contributions, have made it worse than ever. Whose bidding do you think elected officials will bend to as long as this method of campaign financing is allowed--the benefactors or the majority of the constituents? We need campaign finance reforms to limit spending and eliminate buying your way into office utilizing small groups of mega wealthy donors.

Nailed it, rongone. Could not have said it better. We have replaced a very fine idea - a democracy of, by, and for the people - with a plutocratic oligarchy.

What candidate running at this level does not have or use PAC money?
Big money has infected politics. Is Hillary using PAC money? Did Obama
use PAC money for his election?
We need a federal law that says ONLY individuals could donate money to
a candidate drawn from a personal bank account. $100.00 limit! No exceptions!
Violate the law and its 10 years in the slammer.
But that’s not going to happen any time soon.

I don't think that Rongone was arguing that one side was doing it and not the other.
In fact, he wrote, "It's not just Cruz."

I interpreted what he posted in the same way. It's time for publicly funded elections in America. Period
In addition, the use of money is not the same as exercising the right to free speech, and corporations are not people.

I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in this.
Rongone's point was clear.
I think that everyone needs to get past the reflexive urge to defend their team.

Sometimes you have to read past the first sentence to reach understanding. (lightbulb)

I've ceased calling them elections, and started calling them auctions. It's more accurate.

BYOB has a point.

I've always thought that a person should have to spend their own money on their campaign, no donations allowed at all. Would that be perfect? No, but that's how I feel.
