Focusing on Important Stuff

I was being sarcastic.  We have a sub-forum dedicated to discussing issues .......... quite lively as well as informative at times.  But, what is being discussed on the national stage by 2 people running for one of the most powerful positions in the world?

This sums it up:

Re: Focusing on Important Stuff

Sadly, on the national stage this year there has been a conversation about nothing.

Maybe that's our destiny.

I wonder if enough civic knowledge exists among the populace to have a substantive conversation anymore.
For instance, on the rare occasion that Mr. Trump actually talks about an issue he promises to do things that, as president, he would lack the power to do. And he has stoked fears that Clinton will do things (Like repeal the 2nd amendment) that neither she nor her appointed judges would have the power to do.

Trump has had considerable success by simply promising to restore an easier time. And, apparently, It will require no effort or sacrifice on the part of The People. Just elect him, and Trump will simply accomplish this feat through the force of his will.
How can you talk issues with people who will buy that?

November 8 can't come fast enough, but of course the 2020 campaigns will begin on November 9.

I think it already has, Fred.  I've heard talk on the news shows of a possible run by Trump, Jr.  If Trump, Sr. gets his tv show up and running it could become the jump off for junior's attempt in 2020.

Yea, I've heard speculation that Pence is hanging tough in the hopes of being the 2020 frontrunner, and that Ryan will run.
It never ends.
