I believe the below comment from the 538.com live blog on the debate sums up my feelings well:
"In all the presidential debates I’ve watched, I have never seen any debate come close to these first 20 minutes. After watching this, it’s pretty obvious why these two are the most disliked presidential nominees in modern history."
I would like to add I think these are also the two worst candidates in at least the last 40 years, if not even longer. For christ's sake, we really need to start this process over again and get 2 different candidates.

Oh, I have been around quite a few elections and believe me there have been worse candidates.
Despite what anyone thinks, ONE of these TWO will win the next POTUS. Make sure you pick the best one.

I will pick neither one, because in my opinion neither deserve to be President. Picking between two crappy turd sandwiches means you are still picking a turd sandwich.

There will probably be more than ever before that vote for a 3rd party and that is OK, but not enough to keep one of the two major candidates from becoming POTUS.

I favor the D-tribe platform over the R-tribe's. That's what matters to me.

I don't think that either moved the needle one way or the other. That being said, it is probably not good news for Trump considering how much he as fallen in the last week. But, as we have seen, a week is a long time especially in THIS Presidential election.

Not sure if people really read the fact checkers after the debate anymore (which they should since so many things are thrown back and forth), but here is the one from tonight.

I agree with you Tennyson and would add Trump's stalk-like movements on the stage were somewhat unnerving. Why did he feel it necessary to move right behind Hilliary at times like a creep or pace the floor, ignoring what was being spoken.

It was a tawdry affair that was a complete waste of time for the American people.
I do not agree that these TWO candidates are the worst in history.
In Clinton I see a well qualified and well informed individual with ethical baggage.
In Trump I see the most unqualified and unfit nominee in the history of the United States.
The great "triumph" of the Trump campaign is that they have managed to establish a false equivalency between competence and bluster, and knowledge & showmanship. He owes a huge debt to the media for that.

From my perspective, as I have previously stated, is that in my 50 years of voting these two are the least palatable candidates for president I have witnessed. This is for different reasons. One is a lifelong political activist with some baggage concerning truthfulness and believability. The other is a totally unqualified (especially concerning international relations) sideshow barker with no real definitive plans to 'fix' all the problems he blames on others.
As I said before on this site, this will be the first election that I will vote for the candidate that will do the least harm rather than the most good. Hopefully, in four years, the two major parties will do a better job in putting forth reasonable qualified candidates. In the meantime, I will educate myself on the platforms and candidate's positions on issues to guide me in casting my vote for state and federal legislators up for election. I consider these elections more important as a way to influence the track of our government into performing their constitutionally defined responsibilities and serve the people, not themselves or their party.
