Pa. German heritage on display at Heemet Fescht in Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, PA
The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center held its Heemet Fescht on Saturday at the center off Luckenbill Road at Kutztown University.
The free event featured Pennsylvania German folk demonstrations, live animals and children's activities. There was a craft tent, folk music and barn star painting.
Other highlights:
The Mountain Folk Trio, featuring Dave Kline and Mike Hertzog.
Demonstrations of 19th century farm culture include blacksmithing, hearth cooking and hex sign painting.
Harp music by Sarajane Williams of PlanetHarp.
Darius Puff on Lenape history and storytelling.
The Reading-Berks Guild of Craftsmen perform traditional crafts.
Rachel E. Yoder read her recently published book, "Penny Olive."
Food historian Dr. William Woys Weaver.
David Hoffman hosted an introduction to Pennsylvania German fraktur.
