Re: Interpret This

The last paragraph that you highlighted Goose is what really grabbed me by the throat when I first read it last night.

I don't see Trump losing 50 states, but I do see him getting trounced badly and hope that it leads to the GOP losing the Senate. Only then will the Republicans jettison the nationalist right wing of the party and then maybe we can get back to an effective two party system.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

I too am hoping for a decisive loss that causes the GOP to lose both the Presidency and the senate.
Perhaps this will finally serve as the catalyst for change that the Republican party needs.
I briefly took heart when I saw the GOP "autopsy" after the 2012 defeat, when prominent republicans called for a purging of "the stupid" from the party. (Hey, I voted for Mitt)

Sadly, the party turned it's back on the plea for a more diverse, reasoned party, and became more anti-science, anti-people who look different, more xenophobic, more fearful, more pro-violent rhetoric, and more gun nutty.
Hopefully it represents a last gasp of the bigoted, fascist wing of the party.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
