Hawks are Pro-Abortion

Really?

New Hampshire fourth-graders' hawk bill provokes abortion comment

CONCORD, N.H. –  A civics lesson took an unexpected turn for a group of New Hampshire fourth-graders when a lawmaker brought the abortion debate into their effort to name a state raptor.

The students from Lincoln H. Akerman School in Hampton Falls worked during class and on their own time to craft a bill to make the red-tailed hawk the official state raptor. They got a sponsor for it, got the bill through a House of Representatives committee and then watched from the House gallery last week to see if it would pass.

Rep. Warren Groen, a Republican from Rochester, rose to speak on the measure, which was defeated.

"It grasps them with its talons and then uses its razor-sharp beak to rip its victims to shreds, to basically tear it apart limb by limb, and I guess the shame about making this a state bird is it would serve as a much better mascot for Planned Parenthood," Groen said.

Principal Mark Deblois said Thursday that he has heard from parents whose kids asked what Planned Parenthood is and why it was invoked in a discussion about hawks.

"None of the kids got those (abortion) references," he said. "Fortunately they didn't, because it's such a disgusting reference. But certainly that led to questions about what did that mean."

Groen defended his comments and chastised critics for being outraged by his comments but not by abortion.

There was no immediate statement from the fourth graders as to whether they would choose a more pro-life bird for the state honor.

I think that this should serve as a cautionary tale to all. Be careful, lest your partisan politics become your master. They will take over your mind to the point that you try to drag everything in life into it, and you can discuss nothing else.

But, watch. Someone will defend this guy. Someone will bring up an example of a democrat behaving badly to "even the score". And this nonsensense will go on, and on.

Goose, you are so right.  What is wrong with these people?  I was lurking in a Rachael Ray cooking/recipe group and some poster starts with the"Why don't you have any Republican's on your show?  They cook, too."  Another poster told him it was a recipe/cooking group and no one was interested in his political views and to take it to a political forum.  He ranted and ended up calling everyone liberal commies and leaving.

Some people really do allow it to take over their minds.

That's amazing, Florentine.
I once recall seeing internet lists of "Best conservative rock songs", and figured we had dropped down the rabbit hole as a society.

But Rachel Ray?
What's next, pesto is conservative, and clam sauce is liberal?
Madness!

At the risk of sounding a bit partisan, I'm gonna have to state for the record that pesto would be more liberal, as it has many versatile uses.

Re: Hawks are Pro-Abortion

I disagree.
I believe in traditional pesto, a sacred blending of one herb, basil, and one nut, the pine nut, as God intended. Others have been known to use walnuts, which are an abomination invented by some San Francisco values types who are out to destroy our nation.
