Florida Congressional Candidate Greg Evers Announces AR-15 Giveaway After Orlando Massacre
A Florida Republican state senator is giving away a custom-built semi-automatic rifle in a campaign Facebook contest a week after a gunman killed 49 people in Orlando.
Sen. Greg Evers, who is running for the 1st Congressional District seat, announced a "Homeland Defender Giveaway" contest to give residents of the district a chance to win a custom-built AR-15 semi-automatic rifle on Independence Day.
"With terrorism incidents on the rise, both at home and abroad, protecting our constitutional rights has never been more important," Evers said in a news release. "With all that's happening in the world today, I've never felt stronger about the importance of the Second Amendment in protecting our homeland than I do now."
The Homeland Defender AR-15 will also have the Second Amendment engraved in a metal plate just in front of the trigger guard.
A winner will be chosen at random from a list of those who have "liked" the "Greg Evers for Congress" Facebook page and "shared" a post from the page.
The giveaway is available only to those 18 years or older who are residents of the district and can pass a federal criminal background check, according to his campaign's news release.
Evers has served in the Florida Legislature since 2001, including the Senate the past six years.
The National Rifle Association has given him an A-plus grade for the past 15 years.
Hey, it's just for defending your home, or target practice, or to show off your "big gun" to your friends (to make up for your small pistol).
We need more people like Greg Evers in our legislator to hasten the demise of our country. What a jerk.

Millions of semi-auto rifle owners would disagree with you! It might be a good idea for Perry to "giveway" a
custom rifle.

Gun Store Sells 30,000 AR-15's Since Orlando Shooting
Since the Orlando shooting, AR-15’s have been a popular selling item in many gun stores across the country. An AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle that was made in 1959 by the Armalite Company.
Hunter’s Warehouse Owner Tom Engle told the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney, his online operation consisting of 300,000 to 400,000 weapons has sold 30,000 AR-15’s since Sunday. A Federal Firearms License (FFL) lets gun-store owners manufacture and import firearms and ammunition across the United States. Even though each state has its own set of gun laws, Engle explained how it would be possible to buy an AR-15 online.
“You would have the firearm shipped to an FFL [agency] in your home state because every state is different and then we would ship that FFL firearms agency in your home state and they would be responsible to do the paperwork for you in your home state,” he said.

Pol: Terror won't stop my AR-15 giveaway
Lawmaker plans AR-15 rifle giveaway
(CNN)A Tennessee state lawmaker is defending his plans Friday to give away firearms closely following the terror attack in Orlando, arguing that "a crazed Muslim terrorist" shouldn't "change the plans or activities that we have as Americans."
Republican State Rep. Andy Holt planned a campaign event featuring a giveaway of two AR-15 rifles -- a firearm that advocates for stricter gun regulations have made a symbol of out-of-control gun proliferation -- before Orlando's deadly mass shooting at a gay nightclub over the weekend.
Holt told CNN's David Gregory on "New Day" that to cancel the event now would be wrong, and viewed as a surrender to terrorists.
"I think there is nothing more that this particular individual would love, this terrorist, than to think that he has changed a significant number of plans for Americans, and also that maybe gun control measures will be instituted regarding the use of firearms here in the United States because of his actions," Holt said.
He added, "I don't concede to the idea we should change our plans because this individual inappropriately used a firearm."
Pressed on the need for some sort of response to the shootings in Orlando, Holt appeared open to changing some regulations, specifically regarding the ability of suspects on terror watch lists to purchase guns.
"I think there is a reason for terror suspects not to get firearms. A man that has devoted himself to ISIS and radical Islam, that's a precursor -- that should disallow an individual to have a firearm."
Holt, though, clarified that the government would need to "be strategic in their implementation of those laws." And he maintained his opinion that "the argument should be about radical Islam and gun-free zones."
Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people on Sunday, used a Sig Sauer MCX assault-style rifle and had a Glock 9mm semiautomatic pistol. Mateen was able to purchase the guns legally despite at having been on a terror watch list at one point.
Both of these gun nut legislators has one thing in common.
They're both republicans.
Principal Priebus must be going crazy trying to administrate his dysfunctional school.

Perry will do whatever the leaders of the 'Freedom Caucus' tell him to do. The same way they tell him how to vote in the House of Representatives.

Found on line from an AR owner!
I am an AR15 owner, and I have had enough. Ive had enough of being blamed for the violent acts of criminals, psychopaths, and terrorists. Ive had enough of the medias constant misinformation and one sided agenda driven coverage of these tragedies. Ive had enough of shameless politicians manipulating the justified fear, sadness, and outrage these tragedies leave behind to usurp our freedom while assuring me they aren't actually doing that. And I have had had enough of clueless Americans unwilling to take responsibility for their own safety but willing to give up my liberties so they can feel safe. Yes, I am an AR15 owner, and I have had just enough of all of this *ullshit.

So . . . He's going to take his AR-15 to the shooting range for some target practice ? ? ?
What are his ideas for preventing mass shootings in the U.S. ?
BTW, the NRA is the major perpetrator of fear, outrage and misinformation subsequent to these tragedies, by a long shot (pun intended). Fear, outrage and misinformation about the government throwing out the second amendment and coming to confiscate your weapons. "Bullsh!t"

Well lets start with leaving gun owners alone and go after the terrorist. That would be a really nice start!
Yea the same old phony outrage it's the NRA's fault! A radical Islamic terrorist slaughters Americans and the loony left goes after gun owning America. Condition normal!

Not phony nor is it outrage. I'm merely saying that you cannot have a reasonable discussion about the prevention of mass shootings in our country without including weapons in that discussion. Especially semi automatic weapons with high capacity magazines.
Whereas you seem to be satisfied by sitting back and enjoying your pitcher of NRA KoolAid, putting your blinders on and turning Fox 'news' on your TV. You're on your personal stairway to heaven.
