Enthralled by Sicily, Again

Enthralled by Sicily, Again

Great essay, and an enjoyable slide show of photos.
Wonderful things await the unafraid.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Enthralled by Sicily, Again

Sicily is perhaps the most conquered island in history. Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Vandals, Arabs, Normans, Spaniards, French, Neapolitans, and finely the British and Americans.

And each conqueror contributed something; food, literature, legend, etc to present day Sicily.
The eastern part of the island most reflects it's period of Greek colonization.
Some great ruins still exist there.

Syracuse is a particularly charming city
