The State Department on Tuesday warned Americans traveling to Europe about risk of terror attacks over the summer."

The large number of tourists visiting Europe in the summer months will present greater targets for terrorists planning attacks in public locations, especially at large events," the State Department said in a travel advisory. It pointed to two events in particular — the Catholic Church's World Youth Day in late July in Poland and the European Soccer Championship, which France will host from June 10-July 10 — as potential targets.France has been under a state of emergency since deadly terror attacks across Paris in November 2015 left 130 people dead.

The country's spy chief told lawmakersthat spooks were aware ISIS is planning more attacks — "and that France is clearly a target."

Be afraid!

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

We received similar alerts on a monthly basis both times we lived in Saudi Arabia.

Re: State Department Issues New Travel Alert for Europe

ANY large event, anywhere is a target that terrorists would like to hit and take credit for, BUT the reality is that most of these events garner a huge security cadre and the actual likelihood of such a happening is low. Most terror attacks usually go after the low hanging fruit.

Nevertheless people DO need to be vigilant and the warnings should be taken as just that.

Just go don't worry! Just be happy!

The State Dept does not know what they are talking about.

Your chances of being injured or killed while traveling are just as great here in the U.S. as they are in Europe. But the fear mongering, hunker bunker, the rest of the world is in turmoil, wrapped in the flag 'Patriots', that never spent one day outside the U.S. (Except for that family trip to Niagara Falls where we spent most of our time on the 'merican side) would like you to believe that most of the foreign countries have no idea of what security actually is and you're only safe in your underground bug out location somewhere in the woods, want you to believe that.

And, how can we believe anything that the State Department says with melted faced John Kerry at the helm of a bureaucracy that pantsuit Hillary totally screwed up with her personal e-mail server and lies about Benghazi?

Yes, we should all be afraid . . . be very afraid.

Interesting observations.
Of course we should take note of State Department advisories.
I would, however, have to grant that when the overwhelming percentage of travel threads an individual starts are negative in nature that either there is an agenda in play, or that fear has risen far beyond what is reasonable given the available facts.

Folks should take care not to fear the world too much. Our hopes lay in getting to know and respect peoples everywhere.
