On Tuesday, former president Bill Clinton was asked by a reporter whether he had any response to Trump's latest attack on Twitter -- alluding to his past infidelities and charging that he was the "worst abuser" of women in U.S. political history.
"No. I think people are smart enough to figure this out without my help," Bill Clinton replied.*
Well, are we? I foresee a media, desperate for the ratings that the salacious stories are sure to generate, talking about little else than Bill Clinton's sex life - and Donald Trump's behavior at beauty pageants.
Is this any way to pick a President?
Please, America, support the candidate of your choice. But do it with an eye towards the challenges that the republic faces.
Sometimes I think that The People approach elections in an appallingly unserious, immature and superficial way.
And then we are shocked, shocked, when our government does not work.
The mood is grim.

Ditto, Goose. Where oh where are the statesmen in politics today? We elect celebrities based on a couple of hot-button issues and then are disappointed and angry when they don't seem to be able to address the important issues and problems of the nation.

Yep, this is the worst campaign for name calling that I can remember. Usually it comes from the surrogates to do the dirty work, but Mr Trump certainly "trumps" all of them. Can't imagine him as a POTUS.
