Keon Brown has been sentenced to four years in prison after he pled guilty to first degree malicious burning during the April 2015 unrest. Another man, Keith Riggins, was convicted of conspiracy to commit first degree malicious burning, after a witness identified him on video, and informed Baltimore Police. On April 27, 2015, a large crowd began rioting and breaking windows at the intersection of Pennsylvania and North Avenue. MTA Officers responded to secure the Penn North Metro Station.

The officers were attacked by rioters who attempted to turn over and set their vehicles on fire. CCTV footage shows Riggins and Brown at the back of one of the vehicles. Riggins admitted to passing lighter fluid and paper to Brown, who then started the fire. $40,000 worth of damage was caused. Riggins was sentenced to two years in prison.

“It is a person’s civil liberty to protest,” said State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. “However, we will not tolerate protestors that vandalize and destroy our community and endanger the lives of others. “

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”
