Clinton aide: Sanders needs to change 'tone' if he wants NY debate

I guess Clinton won't debate Sanders in New York unless he stops his negative campaigning?
Just give up Bernie and then Hillary will debate you. Negative= Cash from Wall street, Voting for the war,
Taking large amounts of money from Wall Street, Super PAC money....... you know all the negative stuff.

Clinton aide: Sanders needs to change 'tone' if he wants NY debate

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/274470-clinton-aide-new-york-debate-depends-on-tone-of-sanders

A top aide to Hillary Clinton's campaign on Monday dodged questions about setting up a debate with Bernie Sanders in New York, saying it depends on the senator's "tone." "This is a man who said he'd never run a negative ad ever. He's now running them. They're planning to run more," Joel Benenson, Clinton's chief strategist, said on CNN. "Let's see the tone of the campaign he wants to run before we get to any other questions."  After winning a trio of states over the weekend, Sanders on Sunday called for a debate in New York ahead of that state's April 19 primary.

The Vermont senator is looking to cut into Clinton's delegate lead and says he has the "momentum" heading into the latter half of the race. The pair faced off in a Miami debate earlier this month, and a Sanders campaign letter on Sunday said the two campaigns had agreed to a California debate in May but had not agreed to terms on a debate in April, according to The New York Times. "What's the risk?" CNN's Kate Bolduan asked Monday, pressing multiple times about agreeing to a debate in New York.

"There's no risk. She's done very well in the debates," Benenson responded. "Sen. Sanders doesn't get to decide when we debate, particularly when he's running a very negative campaign against us," he continued. "Let's see if he goes back to the kind of tone he said he was going to set early on. If he does that, then we'll talk about debates," Benenson added.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”

There IS a risk but it is not so much on the issues itself vs blocking Clinton's hope of a unity message to bring the Sanders voters into her camp (particularly the young voters) as the following article accurate articulates.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/sanders-sharpens-attacks-for-ny-showdown-that-may-dash-clintons-unity-hopes/2016/03/26/79d69b7a-f297-11e5-85a6-2132cf446d0a_story.html

BTW, the Republicans have an even more daunting task in front of them to unite their fractured party.

How about if Bernie just continues to spread his message and ideas and let the voters decide.  Geez, let's quit the crap about spewing what somebody tells the candidate they're working for what they think people want to hear.  What a novel idea ............... some candidate says, "This is what I stand for, believe in, and here is why."

BTW, some guy on my street just stuck a "Ted Cruz" sign in his yard.  I'm going down there and ask him why?  I'll let you know how he responds.

Bernie is likely not going to stop campaigning till after the convention. But as the article noted (and same goes double for the R-tribe) the danger is endangering unity. It is not to say that Bernie should stop campaigning as hard as he can but more not destroying each other in the process (as has already happened on the R-tribe side).

About a half dozen Damien 'Trussed Ted' Cruz signs showed up around where we live this past weekend. I'd go ask them what are they thinking, but I'm afraid I'll get shot.

Bernie Barnstorming event this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Red Brick Bakery & Tea Room, 55 N. Main St. In Red Lion.

Hey, I guess Ted is no worse than the rest of them.  Except Kasich.  Kasich is the only candidate on either side that is even remotely electable, possible presidential material, in my opinion.  The rest are all whacked out lunatics in one way or another.  If it's not Hillary lying constantly and the perceived notion that she should be the next president simply because it's 'her turn' when she couldn't even beat Barack Obama, it's Bernie wanting to steal all of the middle class' money to give to people who didn't earn it.  If it's not Bernie wanting to steal our money then it's Trump who only says things like 'we will win better than we've ever won!' and 'Mexico will pay for a wall', and if it's not Trump then it's Cruz who looks and sounds like the guy that no one ever liked.  Kasich is really the only legitimate choice.

Re: Clinton aide: Sanders needs to change 'tone' if he wants NY debate

I still think running Hilary is a big, big mistake.

Brand-R will launch a smear campaign on day one.

People will be turning on each-other in masses.

How is that different from right now ?
