Some one or group--sorry, don't remember--is suggesting any one attending the R convention open carry. Let the fun begin! - flower
I'm pretty sure the Republican Convention will take place in a 'Gun Free Zone'. We shall see.

Wouldn't you know they'd spoil all the fun.

Well, hey, flowergirl, there's no one on this board who would like to see a R-Tribe convention with the participants packing heat more than me. Woooo Woooo!

One Million Texans With Guns
The latest spike in License to Carry gun applications is expected to take Texas past a significant milestone.CHL Licensed Instructor Michael Cargill owns Central Texas Gun Works.
He says the 140 percent jump in applications from December 2015 through February is caused by a combination of fears of terrorism brought on by the shootings in San Bernardino and President Obama’s proposed gun control laws.
“Then you have the new law that went into effect January the first (Open Carry)…all of that plays into it, and that’s why we’re seeing numbers. For the first time the State of Texas will actually go over one million licensed holders,” says Cargill. From December through February, DPS received 136,000 License to Carry applications compared to just 57,000 over that period last year.DPS has been forced to increase staffing to handle the volume of applications.
I know this is only anecdotal evidence, but I do know several people (who said they did not own a gun) that right after the San Bernadino event (like that night) made comments about getting a gun and followed through on it. I also know several people who made statements about getting a gun right after Obama made his proposals.
Most of these statements were made before groups like the NRA used them to sell more guns. From my experience, the events themselves lead to the huge increase in gun sales. For the most part, it was not due to any propaganda from outside groups.

Well yeah, but the question was whether the people that did buy guns did so because of the events themselves or because of the NRA and gun manufacturers using propaganda.
From my experience, it was the event itself that made people buy guns. The reactions they had were immediately after the events, before the propaganda began.

That fear mongering propaganda never ends.

Yeah, those Obama proposals were really frightening that they might have to go through a background check ! I can certainly see why they would have rushed out to purchase a weapon.
