Terror attackss in Brussels

When the Paris attacker was arrested a couple of days ago they said an attack was being in Brussels, I guess they were right and the terrorists probably pushed up their timeline to do it before they were caught

So sad for the innocent lives lost

Re: Terror attackss in Brussels

A ticking time bomb. When and where will the next attack happen?

"French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said:" "We are at war. Over the past few months in Europe, we have endured several acts of war."

"In a rare joint statement, leaders of the 28 member states of the European Union (EU) called Tuesday's events in Brussels" "an attack on our open democratic society."

President Obama spend about 50 seconds to speak about the attack and then goes to a baseball game. This is a person who just does not get it. The optics were terrible.

Re: Terror attackss in Brussels

I don't think that's a fair assessment, Common.  What did you want him to say or do?  I'm pretty sure he gets it.

Of course "He gets it"
.
We are one of the few nations that has committed much of any resource to the fight. Most people don't even know that it formally has a name : Operation Inherent Resolve. As of March 9, 2016, nearly 11,000 airstrikes have been launched on ISIL (and occasionally Al-Nusra), killing over 27,000 fighters and striking over 22,000 targets, including 139 tanks, 371 Humvees, and 1,216 pieces of oil infrastructure. Approximately 80% of these airstrikes have been conducted by American forces, with the remaining 20% being launched by other members of the coalition, such as the United Kingdom and Australia. 7,268 strikes hit targets in Iraq, while 3,602 hit targets in Syria.

I agree with Fred and the facts submitted by Tennyson. Too many people buy the KoolAid that outlets like Fox "news" is selling. That quote is almost verbatim from Fox's "we repeat, you comply" headline that they're repeating ad nauseum on their news channel. Obviously, if you disregard the facts of the actions this administration has taken against terrorism, and, instead buy into the distortions that some 'news' outlets perpetuate on a continual basis, you might be subject to accepting the filtered bias of that source. The same people that originally cast Obama as a secret Muslim are the ones that continually seek out situations that they contort to fit with their diatribe of outrage towards this administration. Nobody knows what he said via secure communications, who he called, and what arrangement/commitments were made on behalf of the U.S. to support our allies subsequent to the acts of terror in Belgium. As Fox would like it, all that matters is that he sat at a baseball game with Raul Castro, they did the wave together, and then the whole Obama family flew off on air force one to Argentina. That is an enormous distortion of the facts and nothing but propaganda for people that oppose the Obama administration.

It's absolutely fair!"

Morning Joe: Obama’s Tone Deaf Response to Terror Attacks Makes Americans Feel "“Leaderless”

From the Paris attack:

The latest national survey by Pew Research Center, conducted Dec. 8-13 among 1,500 adults, finds that since the start of this year, the share of Americans who say the government is doing well in reducing the threat of terrorism has fallen by 26 percentage points – from 72% to 46% – and now stands at its lowest point in the post-9/11 era.

Just 37% approve of the way Obama is handling terrorism while 57% disapprove, the lowest rating of his presidency for this issue.

The new Gallup poll shows a decline since 9/11. In the days after the attacks on the World Trade Center, 88 percent of Americans had trust in their government to protect them. That has dropped rather steadily and now is at an all-time low.

The great thing about being a 'talking head' on a 24 hour 'news' channel is that you can spew your opinion all day and all night without having to offer any solutions, or take any responsibility for implementing any plans.

No, it is not fair for the reasons Tennyson posted.  What else do you want him and the USA to do?
