Oh, Iowa!

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Oh, Iowa!

I didn't see any surprises. Polls were generally in line. Cruz performed a little better, Trump a little worse, and Rubio much better but at the end of the day, the top three ended up in the top three.

And on the Dem side, Bernie and Hillary were an even split, which I think was generally expected.

No more O'Malley. No more Huck.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

Re: Oh, Iowa!

I'm ready for PresTED. We'll have a hell of a time. Damien's on fire since his Iowa win.

Has anyone related to him or his campaign explained the historical demise into innocuous obscurity of other 'winners' of the Iowa caucus?

Re: Oh, Iowa!

Biggest "win" without winning was for Rubio IMHO. Don't count Trump out - he still is a viable spoiler in the whole thing. It does point to the fact he needs a better ground team and political advisors if he wants to pull this thing off. An "entertainer" is not enough. Right now we have the far right and far left tugging their respective parties. This is not good for an already extremely polarized nation.

Re: Oh, Iowa!

Did skipping that debate hurt trump in Iowa?

Hard to tell, He and Iowa voters never seemed to be a good match from the outset. Perhaps "the Dons" most memorable quote that turned out to be prophetic was If I Lose Iowa, 'Big, Fat, Beautiful Waste of Time'

Re: Oh, Iowa!

Trumps concession speech was remarkable in that it's the first time he's spoken for two minutes without insulting anyone!

Re: Oh, Iowa!

The other headline I liked from the Iowa caucuses was

Hillary Clinton wins 6 Iowa precincts with coin tosses against Bernie Sanders

Re: Oh, Iowa!

Biggest republican turn out ever in Iowa caucuses. Something like 182,000.
Cruz's ground game was impressive and it made the difference. Cruz received more republican votes than any other republican candidate in Iowa and Trump received the 2nd most ever.

Sanders... what can you say. A revolution on the democrat side. There were 6 coin tosses to break ties and Clinton won all 6!  That seem to be the difference right now. The race has not been officially called.

People were buzzing... what would Trump say with his 2nd place finish.
It was another this will finish Trump now. Nope wrong again.

From the Trump concision speech:
"We finished second and I want to tell you something: I'm just honored, I'm really honored. And I want to congratulate Ted [Cruz] and congratulate all of the incredible candidates. We're just so happy with the way everything worked out."

He ended his speech on a gracious note, saying, "Iowa, we love you, we thank you. You're special. We will be back many, many times. In fact, I think I might come here and buy a farm. I love it."

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”
