We shall see. I think that you are correct though. Walker's attempt to become the favorite son of the base has led him into some really strange comments that have the potential to make the center- right run for the hills.

Re: Did Scott Walker Compare unions to ISIS?

Mr. Walker argued that his experience facing down union protesters in Madison prepared him to defeat the Islamic State, the terrorist group. He later acknowledged, “There’s no comparison between the two.”

Well, I guess all's well that ends well. Walker vaulted to the top tier of candidates, threw some red meat to the CPAC, and then disavowed his own remarks to stop the fire.
Time to move on. This will be soon forgotten (Unless you are a public employee).
However, Walker should note that you only get so many fumbles and punts. And you can go from juggernaut to punchline in a span that you can measure with an eggtimer.
Welcome to the Bigs.

Re: Did Scott Walker Compare unions to ISIS?

The left wing blogs went into over drive with Walkers comments….. It’s a long political season and stupid things will be said! And what he said was stupid! But won’t have a thing to do with a possible run for president. (Well maybe on the left leaning blogs)

Gov Walker has been beyond successful in Wisconsin. Winning not 1 or 2 but 3 extremely hard fought election where unions spent millions and did everything they could to defeat him. He won big every time.

Now we will see the media go after him to try everything they can to discredit him! Presidential politics………. Start now!
Of course the NYT does not like Walker!

Try to discredit him? How, by reporting the words that come out of his mouth?

It is very difficult for me to accept the NYT, or the media in general, as the villain in this.
The press has no duty beyond taking care not to misquote anyone.
Walker sought out the limelight, and he found it. What he says in speeches is legitimate news.

I never could figure out why some people direct their ire towards those who report stupid remarks rather than at the person who made the stupid remark.

As to your comment that this has nothing to do with a run for President. Well, the public will judge that.

Re: Did Scott Walker Compare unions to ISIS?

I said the comment was stupid! So........    "And what he said was stupid!"
And the NYT does not like him........ I did not say they were the villians!
And two years from now this is just a blimp of many blimps.....

Lets not forget what is really going on here:
Gov Walker has been beyond successful in Wisconsin. Winning not 1 or 2 but 3 extremely hard fought election where unions spent millions and did everything they could to defeat him. He won big every time.

"Try everything they can to discredit him".

In other words, reporting the words that come out of his mouth.
Terrible. Simply terrible.

And, yes, you did cast the NYT as the villain, even though you did not use the term.

Re: Did Scott Walker Compare unions to ISIS?

Walker has gained a lot of attention for his stance on taxes and unions in Washington, but will his track record in regards to these things come back to take him off center stage for a run at the Presidency ? So far his policies seem to be a detractor rather than a positive force when placed on the national (and actually local) stage. We shall see.

Will Wisconsin's Finances Crush Walker's Presidential Dreams?

Re: Did Scott Walker Compare unions to ISIS?

Good point, Tennyson.  I'm not sure Walker's policies are working all that great in Wisconsin.

Gov Walker has been beyond successful in Wisconsin.

Well, the Kochsters may have had something to do with that, too.  If my perceptions are correct, he's their guy.

Interesting observation by Thom Hartman goes something like this:  There are only two things that stand in the way of plutocratic oligarchy ..........  government regulations and unions.  Well, we all have recognized the fact that elected officials can be bought and the Supreme Court solidified that for us in the future.  The second thing that upsets and annoys oligarchs are unions.  Walker, among other bought and paid for public officials, will be working on that irritation, too.

Re: Did Scott Walker Compare unions to ISIS?

I guess it depends on the definiton of "successful".
Is it Scott Walker winning elections, or
the people of the state actually doing well?
