Press Releases Statement on President's Gun Control Executive Order

As a proud and responsible gun owner, I am and always will be a resolute supporter of every law-abiding American’s Second Amendment rights. I’m open to meaningful solutions that may prevent future senseless acts of violence, but the President’s proposals wouldn’t have prevented any of the recent tragedies. So we have yet another attempt to fit a political narrative through the President’s use of his “pen and phone”, rather than trying to solve the actual problem at hand.

The U.S. Government already has more than 240 pages of federal gun regulations.

In 2010, nearly 80,000 Americans were denied guns after providing false information about their criminal histories during background checks; yet only 44 would-be buyers were ever charged with a crime. A 2011 Government Accountability Office study found that many states currently fail to share felony and mental health records with the National Instant Background Check System.

The first step is fairly simple: we must enforce existing laws to keep guns of out the hands of violent criminals, rather than hampering the rights of law-abiding citizens. I will be introducing legislation this week to stop this clear executive overreach.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”

Re: Statement from Congressman Scott Perry

It's not overrearch, Scott.  The president is trying to standardize the sale of guns in America.  Why should some guy peddling weapons on the internet be excluded from the rules and regulations that gun stores are required to adhere to?

Who voted for this guy, anyway?

Re: Statement from Congressman Scott Perry

Yeah, I got Perry's e-mail about what he's going to do this next session of congress. Unfortunately, it's not a list of what he's actually going to do, but a politically partisan checklist of what he'd like to undo -- like any attempt to address gun control, to repeal the ACA, and repeal the multi-national agreement on Iran.

What a joke Perry is. I already responded to him as a veteran, retired business owner, and registered independent voter asking him what positive legislation that would benefit the majority of Americans he intends to initiate or support. I pointed out to him that the scope, scale, and tone of his e-mail seemed to project that he was going to continue to follow the lead of his freedom caucus and be a complete obstructionist for another legislative session.

Mr. Perry will not be getting my vote when he is up for re-election unless he makes a concentrated effort to engage in cooperation, collaboration, and compromise to submit and pass beneficial legislation. Thus far, he has been a total failure at being an effective legislator.

Re: Statement from Congressman Scott Perry

There is NO overreach in having universal background checks on gun sales. It is something at should have been in place from the outset.

PLEASE, Mr. Politician, send me your predictable statement on Obama's executive order.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

Perry's emails come into my junk mail and are automatically deleted by me.  No point wasting time reading them.

Re: Statement from Congressman Scott Perry

Once again the argument, It won't prevent every gun crime, so let's not do it.

Reminds me of the argument, anti-lock breaks wouldn't have prevented that fatality, so there's no point in them.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
