Washington Post pulls cartoon depicting Ted Cruz's daughters

All I can say is this is disgusting.

Washington (CNN)  Ted Cruz obtained new ammunition Tuesday to shoot at his favorite bogeyman, the mainstream media, after The Washington Post depicted his two young daughters as monkey-like characters doing the bidding of their father.

Re: Washington Post pulls cartoon depicting Ted Cruz's daughters

I wholeheartedly endorse the unwritten rule that a candidate's children should be completely off limits for criticism. Depicting those beautiful kids as monkeys was, to say the least, a low blow. I'm glad they took it down.

The criticism of a candidate for exploiting his children is fair. Of course, they all do that. Obama ran plenty of ads with Michele going on about what a great dad he is. In light of that, it's hard to see why the Post took such umbrage at Cruz doing the same thing. After all, Cruz has a reputation for being a rather abrasive, unlikable guy. John Boehner even called Cruz a,,, well you look it up. So, it was inevitable that Cruz would at some point try to soften and humanize his image. And it is entirely fair that he do so.

Of course, nothing in Washington is more phony than outrage. I see that Cruz is now using this cartoon as a fundraising tool.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Washington Post pulls cartoon depicting Ted Cruz's daughters

(devious)If you were able to peruse some of the 31 hours of unedited Cruz campaign tapes, much of which had his daughters in them with Cruz dictating what and how to utter his campaign slogans, you might have an inkling as to the cartoonist's idea.

I don't think candidate's wives and kids should be dragged into the mire of the campaign rhetoric, especially the kids. But if the candidate initiates the exposure, they must expect some feedback -- some positive and some negative.

Damien.  (devious)  should be and is aware of this, but his #1 concern is himself.

1000% this ^^^^^
