Meltdown? Trump Threatens Third Party Run

Why is the GOP frontrunner talking about running as a third party candidate?
Not very confident in the depth of his support?
He's leading in every poll.
What is he afraid of?

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Meltdown? Trump Threatens Third Party Run

As I stated on another Trump topic:

"The Republican Party members are the ones that are frightened. They are frightened on at least two levels: 1) That Trump actually wins enough delegates to secure the party's nomination. 2) Trump gets pissed off at the party because they don't support him to his satisfaction and he pulls out, ignoring his 'agreement' and runs as a third party candidate. If either scenario comes to fruition, the Republican Party loses the presidential election in 2016."

Re: Meltdown? Trump Threatens Third Party Run

It certainly seems that way to me.
I don't think that there is a path to the presidency for Donald Trump. People are coming together to oppose him from all directions. His negatives are just too high.
But he could theoretically win the GOP nomination, or run as an independent.
Both policies terrify true republicans because it will cost them not only the White House but much of the progress that they have made in Congress.

This is shaping up as a realignment election.
